Confidentiality and Privacy Policy
Confidentiality is one of the most important components between a client and therapist. Successful therapy requires a great deal of trust with highly sensitive personal information that is usually not discussed outside of therapy. The law protects the relationship between the client and the health practitioner, and information cannot be disclosed with out the clients consent. In general the following exceptions to confidentiality apply:
- Suspected child abuse/neglect for which therapists are required by law to report to the appropriate authorities.
- If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person(s), the therapist must notify the police.
- If a client discloses an intent to harm him or herself, the therapist will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperated, the therapist will need to take measures to ensure their clients safety.
- If a client reports a past incident of abuse by a health professional and discloses the health professional’s name, the therapist is required to report that individual to their governing College.
- Under special circumstances the therapist may be required by law to disclose personal health information under the authority of a court Supoena.
Fees
My fees are consistent with the guidelines set out by the Ontario Association of Social Workers. Fees for psychotherapy services are charged at an hourly rate. Payments are made at the end of each session.
I accept payment by E-transfer, cash, paypal, and major credit cards. Although not covered by Provincial Health Insurance Plans (O.H.I.P.) many employers provide extended health benefit plans that often cover Social work and Psychotherapy services. I provide receipts for extended health benefit plans and also for Tax purposes, as Psychotherapy Services are Tax deductible.
My fee is $150 -$200 per hour.
Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel your appointment, please call me directly at least 48 hours ahead of your appointment. If you miss your previously scheduled appointment, and have not notified me in advance, you may be required to pay the full cost of the booked session.
