About Christine

I was Born and raised in the North of England just outside Manchester. I have lived in Toronto for 33 years. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Ryerson University and a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Toronto. I am registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and with the Ontario Association of Social Workers; and as such my practice is guided by the legal and ethical standards governed by the College.

I have twenty three years of direct experience in the field of Social Work and Psychotherapy using many therapeutic techniques including but certainly not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (C.B.T), and Brief Solution Focused Therapy, and I have recently been trained in Mindfulness.

I have many years of facilitating groups of all ages and backgrounds. I have worked at Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care with Survivors of the Jewish Holocaust, and more recently at The Children’s Aid Society of Toronto for almost 14 years, helping the City’s most vulnerable populations.

Specific experience includes helping people, including youth and families with issues related to Trauma, Crisis, Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Abuse, Life Transitions, and Relationship issues.

I strongly believe that people are experts of their own lives. I believe in a collaborative approach to therapy, incorporating an eclectic approach depending upon the strengths and needs of the individual, couple or family.

I am grounded in anti oppressive practice principles, and I believe in the healing power of humour and the power of kindness.

It is my hope and belief that through our work you will come to find peace and resolution and that you will learn to incorporate therapeutic tools toward becoming more compassionate towards yourself and others.
